Burlington, Welsh and Westmorland slates

Most people think of slates as being like the traditional Welsh slates, dug from metamorphic rock strata, however there are a great many variations in differing thickness sizes and colours. Slate has a number of highly practical properties making it an economical choice for all building purposes. The use of second hand slates is environmentally sustainable and ensures roofs are in keeping with existing buildings in the case of refurbishments.

Slate is:
  • Compatible with all other building materials
  • Durable
  • Easily maintained
  • Highly resistant to acids, alkalis and other chemicals
  • Impermeable to water
  • Non- combustible
  • Readily available
  • Retains its colour even in UV light
